Waterbirds

The waterbird habitat condition model assesses the flooding and drying patterns on floodplains, riverine lakes, billabongs and lagoons that provide habitat for waterbird foraging and breeding. MFAT considers two groups of birds, 'Colonial nesting waterbirds', such as ibis, egrets, herons and spoonbills, and 'Waterfowl and grebes' including flood dependent species such as Grey teal, Pink-eared duck, Freckled duck, Australasian shoveller, Great-crested grebe, Hoary-headed grebe.
